This is a fully ecological and sustainable farm, and we ask all guests, volunteers, camper van visitors, and anyone staying with us to understand how water and electricity work here.
Everything is managed directly on the farm, with simple and natural systems, so living here also means being aware of how we use resources and respecting the way the place works.
Water is especially important here.
All the water used in the house ends up going back to the land and the trees. It is filtered first, but it is part of a natural system connected to the farm, so we have to be very careful about what goes down the drains.
Our wastewater system works through a septic tank and natural bacterial filtration, which means that chemical products cannot be used, because they damage the bacteria that make the system work.
Because of this, please avoid using any non-organic or aggressive products when showering, washing clothes, or using sinks.
Please do not pour or wash away:
The more natural and biodegradable the product, the better.
The toilet is also connected to the same ecological system, so it is very important that nothing inappropriate is thrown into it.
Only human waste and toilet paper should go into the toilet.
Anything else can saturate or damage the septic system.
Hot water here depends on solar energy.
This means hot water is not available all day, but only when the solar system has generated enough energy to heat it.
We have a 50-litre water heater, and in general:
After the heater stops working, the remaining hot water in the tank is what is available for the rest of the evening and night.
So it is important to use hot water with care and not assume there is an unlimited supply.
Electricity here also comes from our off-grid solar system, so it is limited.
You are welcome to charge normal devices in the house, such as phones or laptops, but anything with a high consumption must be discussed with us first.
Every part of the system matters. Even opening a tap uses electricity, because a small pump turns on. Large electrical loads can discharge the batteries too much, and that affects the life of the system.
If the batteries are deeply discharged, they lose lifespan, and when there is not enough sun, it can be difficult to recover the whole system.
Oasisss is not a conventional place.
It is a working ecological farm where water, energy, food production, and daily life are all connected. Staying here means being part of that reality and respecting the limits of the land and the systems that support it.
We appreciate people who understand this and help us take care of the place.
Thank you for being mindful and helping us protect this small ecosystem.
If you’ve read all the way here, send us a message saying:
“I am also part of the ecosystem”
And we’ll prepare a small fruit offering for you when you arrive
Thank you.
